Terrainian Space Globes
Art, Science… and Moon Globes!
The new 40cm Moon globe has taken a long time to bring to fruition. Initial work started during the lockdown of 2020. At that time It seemed like a good idea to embark upon an optimistic forward looking project when everything was looking so bleak.
Machining the master took around 9 months. The activity and focus required served an important therapeutic purpose… the resulting globe master was a bonus 🙂
But creating the topographic globe master was only a part of the process, bringing the finished globe to life required more painstaking work (to see the full process of making a Terrainian space globe follow this link).
Eventually after continual refining and prototyping we now have an end result.
First thing that hits you about the 40cm Moon globe is it’s size (I’ve tried to give a sense of how big it is in the photos) a few of the shots include a little bit of the maker (me) to help give a sense of scale… the globe…not the maker!
Each 40cm Moon globe will have its own unique brass identifying name plate and number (as with the 20 and 30cm globes) with an aluminium base to match the size of the globe.
A globe this size and quality showing surface features in three dimension with named features… well there isn’t anything else quite like it!
So there you have it, our new 40cm Moon globe, any questions please get in touch.
Thanks
